'Til We Ain't Strangers Anymore

Maria pulled up her hair and grabbed the small black bag from the nurses office to grab the supplies she would need from the allied health lab. As a part of their grade, senior rank students would work shifts in the nurses office caring for ill patients in their class mates, some were actually ill, some were simply tests from their teacher. Maria was about to work with an actually ill classmate. Her ex-boyfriend Christopher Irvine. She'd gotten the call from Chris' teacher a few class periods before and now apparently Chris was getting worse. He was struggling to catch his breath, he was pale, he was having difficulty swallowing, he barely had a voice at all and he had been complaining of lower abdominal pain. He'd been pulled into and empty teacher workroom and placed on the couch there for Maria to get a better look at him, and that's where he still was when Maria arrived.

"Chris?" Maria said softly.

Chris slowly opened his eyes "Maria?" he whimpered softly.

"Oh Chris...." Maria gasped softly. "You look horrible...."

Chris closed his eyes "I feel horrible." he whimpered.

"Why'd you even come if you felt like this?" Maria asked gently.

"I couldn't miss school today, i had a really big test." Chris said softly.

Maria nodded slowly. "I'll take a look at you, then I'm taking you home," Maria said.

Chris shook his head "No i can't miss the test." he protested.

"Which class is it in Chris?" Maria asked.

[Chris Jericho]

"My Zoology class, please i can't miss this test." Chris said softly.

[Maria Kanellis]

Maria chuckled. "I had that class already, I'll talk to Ms. Miller and see if I can bring the test with us, she's pretty flexible."

Chris shook his head "I'm alright i need to go." he said as he tried to stand.

"Don't even think about it," Maria said, gently shoving him back down.

"I'm ok now please let me leave." Chris protested.

"You are not okay," Maria said, setting the bag down next to herself and start looking for the thermometer.

Chris shook his head and tried to get up again.

Maria shook her head and shoved him back down. "Hey Chris," Maria said, thermometer in her hand. "Y'know that mouth you're over there running, open it."

Chris glared at her and shook his head.

"Chris, you have two options here," Maria said. "Either open up, or I can flip you over and stick this thing somewhere else."

Chris glared at her again but he opened his mouth.

Maria smiled and placed the thermometer in his mouth.

Chris looked away and waited for the thermometer to beep.

Maria took the thermometer with a sigh and wrote down the reading. "No wonder you feel so bad."

"How bad?" Chris asked simply.

[Maria Kanellis]

"102.4 degrees," answered Maria. "Still having any trouble catching your breath?" she asked.
