Samantha smiled as she stood in front of Jeff, trying to hold back more tears as she waited for him to flip back her veil.

Samantha smiled widely as the minister began.

"Marriage is a journey. There are no maps. There is only a commitment to stay on the same path- to love, honor and cherish each other every day.

Always be truthful. Respect the fact that you are two different people with individual needs and wants. Support and encourage each others dreams. Be yourselves. Keep your word. Be there for each other when the outside world threatens to knock you down. Hold each other up. Stand up for your love. Be true to yourselves, even if other people don’t like your truth.

Remember the little things. Actions may speak louder than words, but when someone looks you in the eye, takes you in their arms, and says “I love you”, nothing else matters. Understand that even anger is a form of communication but puts up walls and wastes time where happiness could have been.

Say “I’m sorry”. Forgiveness can make your love grow even stronger. Say what you mean, mean what you say. Be gentle; cry together.

Flowers are nice once in a while. So is a night out with the boys. Talk a lot to each other. Listen even more. Don’t expect perfection, only effort. Learn from your mistakes. Remember that laugher heals, so laugh a lot together. Admit when you are wrong or just plain don’t know something. Be responsible for the happiness you bring into your own life: don’t expect your partner to fulfill all your needs.

Marriage is not a guarantee of anything, but the space surrounded by your love should always be a soft place to fall, a sanctuary and home where love endures. Marriage is a journey, not a destination. Travel far together for many years. Don’t take for granted each other, or all those special moments that happen along the way.

Love gently, and always remember to hold each others hearts.

We are gathered here today to share in the gentle love and heartfelt promise of commitment between Jeffery and Samantha. In the creation and sharing of this union, you celebrate the best of what being human is all about. Together, you are the arms of goodness in this world. Together, you are the miracle called Love."

He then turned to Jeff and asked:

"Do you take this woman, whose hands you now hold, choosing her to be your partner, your best friend, and most trusted companion for all of your days together?"

Jeff smiled at Samantha and answered "I do."

Samantha smiled as the minister turned to her.

"Do you take this man, whose hands you now hold, choosing him to be your partner, your best friend, and most trusted companion for all of your days together?" he asked.

Samantha smiled widely and replied, "I do."

he minister smiled and nodded before continuing. "Before you say your vows to each other, consider this. The words that you are about to say will connect you to each other for all of your days. On this day, these words, and no others, are your sacred promise, your bond, and they come from the one place in the universe that each of you can trust; each other's hearts. So let me set the stage with this poem:

Tell me what you're thinking
Tell me what you feel

Tell me what you're thinking
it must be very real

The thoughts are deep inside you
they're locked up in there tight

They'd really do much better
if you brought them into the light

So tell me what your thinking
don't wait until you're old and gray

Why wait till tomorrow
when I care enough today

Samantha smiled and looked at Jeff before she began to recite the vows she'd worked weeks to memorize.

"When I was a little girl, I dreamed of loving a man who was brave and strong and true; and a romantic wedding on the beach surrounded by the people I love most. I dreamed of being in love, but I never dreamed of sharing my soul. I dreamed of sharing my thoughts, but I never dreamed that someone could hear me without words. In my darkest trouble, in my coldest silence; I looked for you and you were there. I am yours forever. I truly love you. I, Samantha, take you; Jeffery, to be none other than yourself. I promise to stand by your side; to encourage you, and be open and honest with you; to laugh with you, and cry with you; to always love and honor you; both freed and bound by our love, for as long as we both shall live."

Jeff took a deep breath and smiled at Samantha before he started to recite his vows
"I'm standing here and I still can't believe that you love me. I wouldn't be the man I am right now if it wasn't for you. I thought I was brave, but I found out that it takes more courage to open up to another person. I thought I was strong, but you showed me that it takes more strength to let people see your feelings. And I thought I knew how to love, but now I know that it's much harder to let someone love me. That someone is you. You saw into my heart when no one else could and you believed in me. I, Jeffery, Take you, Samantha, to be none other than yourself. I promise to stand by your side; to encourage you, and be open and honest with you; to laugh with you, and cry with you; to always love and honor you; both freed and bound by our love, for as long as we both shall live."

Samantha smiled as the minister continued.

"Lets us bless these rings that you are about to exchange. Circles represent eternity, and though our lives are finite, love is everlasting. Love is the creative force that binds us together, and the force that gives new life.

The blessings of the wind upon these rings, and upon your love, that you always share communication and creativity. The blessings of the fire upon these rings and upon your love, that you always share passion and the spirit. The blessings of water upon these rings and upon your love, that you share compassion, forgiveness, and the wisdom to recognize the cleansing power of both. The blessings of the earth upon these rings and upon your love, that you share health and steadfast resolve to keep this union strong.

We are born of erupting volcanoes, rain from the deepest oceans, stardust and dreams. We are born of the bones of the earth, and the promise of the stars. In celebrating this union, you share a heritage of all the elements of our world, and of all humans who have lived, and loved and walked upon this earth, from the very dawn of time. In making this commitment to each other, you share that which is best in all of us, and give of yourselves a moment of light to the world.

"What token do you give in honor of the commitment that you are making to this man?" he asked Samantha.

"A ring," replied the southern brunette.

"Place the ring on Jeffery's's finger and say, "With this ring I marry you"." instructed the minister.

Samantha slipped the wedding band onto Jeff's finger and her voice started to crack as she said. "With this ring, I marry you."

The minister then turned to Jeff and asked, "What token do you give in honor of the commitment that you are making to this woman?"

The minister smile and began the closing. "As these two hearts have combined and merged in this sacred union made stronger by their love, may the Light of their love become a beacon by which they may always find one another. May the strength of their love make them happy, and the power of their union make them inseparable.

In all of life’s struggles, pain, and disappointments, you will need each other’s companionship and support in order for this relationship to survive. You may give each your love but not your thoughts, for you each have your own thoughts. You may share with each other your warmth, but seek not to covet the other's spark, for such heat must never be caged. You are separate branches of a tree, each seeking the sun in it's own fashion, and at it's own rate of growth. Always remember that like a stone should your love be firm, and like a star should your love for each other always shine.

The sun that burns so bright in the sky represents the flame of passion that burns between this man and this woman; and as night falls over the earth and the sunset begins to fall now upon this couple, let it encompass them with it's golden warmth. As the sun settles below the far horizon, rest assured that this flame will burn again tomorrow and every day thereafter. As you both leave this sacred space, walking side by side on the sand, your feet will make footprints which will lay out the pathway to your future. Know that right here and now, you have both entered into a bond that is not only sacred, but unbreakable. Like the warm soft sands that rest upon the shore, your love is eternal. Your love is sweet, honest, truthful, respectful, and dignified. Above all, it is based upon loyalty that you uphold for each other.

And now, by the exchange of rings, and by the joining of hands, and by the authority granted me by the State, and in accordance with the laws therein, I now declare thee Husband and Wife, Jeffery, you may kiss the bride."

Samantha smiled as she moved to the front to join Jeff, Angel handing her guitar to her as she did. She hugged Jeff close. "I'll always love you, no matter what," Samantha whispered.
